Jake, I've looked it up for you, here's the story from Mike from xlr8yourmac:

"Request for Info - How to Remove/Disconnect the PowerBook G4 Internal
Battery:
I had the firewire ports on my PB G4 suddenly stop working (even firewire
target disk mode does not work) I saw a similiar problem with the G4/Cube
which was fixed by removing the internal battery for several hours. However I
can't find where the internal battery is on the PB G4 (apple lists a part
number for it - but no info on where it is or how to remove or disconnect
it).
I tried resetting the power mgr, resetting the nvram via open firmware,
zapping the pram, etc. - no help. (Same thing on the Cube - only removing the
internal battery helped to restore working firewire ports after this
happened.) I even tried removing the bottom cover and disconnecting any
connectors that looked like they may be from a battery - no help.

it may be the firewire ports are DOA, but if anyone knows where the battery
is (internal backup battery) please let me know
<mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]?subject=PB G4 Internal Battery>. Thanks"
