I personally have my 12 gig (in a B&W 450, 320 MB) set up with three
partitions: (1) 3 gig for OS X (more than enough), (2) 7 gig for OS 9.2.1 +
"Classic" apps + docs, (3) 2 gig for another OS if needed (e.g. 9.1 or 8.6).

I am convinced of the utility of two partitions with OS X (three may be too
many unless you tinker with other versions of the OS or other installs).

You should devote *at least* 2.5 gigs to your OS X partition, 3-4 is
recommended (will allow you to keep your HD happy even when you make the
switch to OS X fulltime). And, YES, I think it is a good idea to keep the OS
9.2 and OS X installs on separate partitions (even drives if necessary).
Although, that does depend on your needs. If you only run OS X you may as
well have a single partition and install OS X + 9.2 together.

There's no real advantage to having the two on separate partitions except
that you can easily keep track of what is installed where that way. OS X and
9.2 do not interfere with each other.

BTW I recommend against having multiple installs of 9.1/9.2 on your
system... for a while whenever I opened up Classic in OS X it would randomly
revert to the install I *didn't* want to open up (b/c it didn't have the
preferences that I needed... ended up deleting the one install).
