Aloha Everyone! I thought I'd share some advice with everyone regarding the
Epson Printers or any Printers being run on a Mac. Perhaps you all know
this, but I didn't and I called Apple Support and after 2 hours and 44
minutes, they were completely stumped and had no answer for me. The problem
was, I had a crash and eventually ended up replacing the harddrive. I
re-loaded O.S. 9.1 and all of the applications from my previous system
folder. When I tried to print, I received the same message over and over,
"Appearance Lib - User theme font not enabled. Download the current User
Theme Fonts" The utilities for the printer worked, i.e. it would clean and
realign and print the results of the utilities run. It would not print
anything else. I tried to install a 2nd printer, thinking that there was
something wrong with the Epson printer. Still no luck, unable to print, and
receiving the same message. I called Epson, they had no idea what the" User
Theme Font" was or where to get it. I called Apple and as stated, they
couldn't figure out what the "User Theme Font" was or where to get it! They
had me load the install disc and tag the printer items and do a custom
reinstall. I was so frustrated, I was ready to throw this out the window!
I decided to try opening Appleworks to see if I could print from there, and
found it had not reloaded when 9.1 was installed and reinstalled. In the
process of installing the files within Appleworks, I noticed "Installing
User Theme Fonts". Needless to say, that was the problem. Both the Epson
and the HP work great again. I thought when 9.1 or any new O.S. was
installed, Appleworks and all necessary applications would be automatically
installed. Apple techs and their supervisor thought the same thing. There
was even an Appleworks icon on the desktop, which I thought made it certain
it had been installed, but it wasn't. Anyway, I don't if this helps anyone
out there, but I asked a lot of people about the "User Theme Font" problem
and no one knew what it was or how to replace it or even where to find it!
It is in the Appleworkds App and that must be reinstalled independently in
order to have the User Theme Fonts recognized. Have a Happy Apple Day! Ron
