A great Mac, depending on the price. As you may have read (see today's
list), there are 2 different logic boards: a Rev. 1 and a Rev. 2. I'd
probably avoid the Rev.1 (which I have in my G3/350!), as it has problems
with large hard drives and 2 drives in a master-slave combo. Though these
can be overcome by an IDE ATA/66 or ATA/100 controller (which I bought).
Very easy to upgrade, very solid construction, compatible with just about
every peripheral, though no AGP port.
I'd avoid it if your aim is to upgrade it to a G4, as it requires special
firmware to overcome a "block" that Apple used to prevent G4 upgrades. If
this is your idea, I'd suggest a Beige G3, which has a hassle-free processor
upgrade, cheap RAM (like the B/W), probably needs an ATA card (like the B/W
Rev.1), and so on. Good luck.
