As a B&W user, with a matching '99 iBook, I can positively say they are
gorgeous machines and a really nice piece of kit. HOWEVER, as most other
people have pointed out, there are issues with the Rev. A machines
(300,350,400) that involved corruption of any upgraded hard disks. The
stacking bracket (on HD on top of the other) is NOT a fool proof way of
telling them apart. The only way to really know is to look on the MoBo
(full details at http://www.xlr8yourmac.com). The only other alternative
is to look around for a 450 as these were released slightly later and
are all Rev. B AFAIK. Other than that point I'd heartily recommend it as
a good 'budget' Power Mac, it certainly makes a fool of an equivalent
iMac! I love the way it looks and the fact it's so easy to upgrade
(fitting a RAM DIMM takes me less than 1 min as they are right at the
top of the MoBo and the whole side just hinges out!). It's a machine
that ranks along side the G4 as a design in general (same case) but
obviously doesn't *quite* have as many beans under the hood but it keeps
me happy!
