I do not know about "RoadRunner AOL."  But I have Cox Roadrunner in Northern
Virginia.

Use one of the modems that the ISP "supports."  Otherwise, the ISP could use
your "foreign" modem as an excuse not to fix the ISP's own problems.  At
first I rented ($10/month) whatever Cox brought in with their service, a
Toshiba PCX1100.  After a few months, I bought the same make/model at
CompUSA with a Toshiba rebate.  At the time Cox supported only one other
type of modem.
