List,

I currently have the original 6 gig Maxtor ATA hard drive and a new 40
gig Maxtor ATA/133 on the factory IDE bus (ATA/33 or 66 not sure) on my
blue & white G4/550.

Acard offers both a ATA/133 IDE PCI card ($149) and a ATA/133 IDE PCI
Raid card($179).

1. I am new to raid setups and my question is - Do you get faster reads
and writes(better performance) with two identical hard drives(133) set
up for raid 0 on the ATA/133 raid IDE PCI ($260) - compared to one
drive(133) on the ATA/133 IDE PCI Card?($149)

2. Also I think a good upgrade is to for sure get off the factory
ATA/33 IDE bus with either the ATA/133 PCI card or the raid card. Is
that correct?

3. Can you connect your CDR or CDR/W to the new PCI card or raid card?

Any input would be appreciated.

Dave
