Hi Eric. "Gossamer" was the codename for both the tower and the desktop. Yeah I have the MT, with 128MB RAM, 12 gig IDE HD, ATAPI CD-ROM, and SCSI Zip drive. Nice little box. I need Rhapsody (OS X Server 1.x) because I'm working to integrate my NeXT boxes with my Macs. With OSXS I can remote-display (NXHost) my NeXT apps from my Cube & Station to the G3. That works with OSXS v1 because v1 used Display PostScript (DPS) -- just like the NeXT. Version 10.1.x (both Consumer and Server flavors) use Display PDF (DPDF) which does not support this NXHosting. BTW, when I get this thing installed I can tell you exactly what 1.1 and 1.2 install in the Blue Box. I also wonder if I can install OS 9 in the Blue Box of OS X Server 1.2.... hmm..... I'll try it anyway! :) How can I tell what my firmware level is, and whether the firmware upgrade has been applied? I know the 128MB in there will work with OS 9 -- I had that installed last night. I've also got some PC-100 RAM (64MB + 32MB) from an old PC -- I'd like to use that if it'll work. As for RAM requirements, I imagine (but don't know for certain) v1.2 requires much less RAM than the current 10.1.x -- it is MUCH closer to NeXT than today's OS is, and NeXT ran well in 16MB on a 68030. (My station today has 32MB -- its max -- and it runs quite nicely.) BTW I love OS X -- I do use 10.1.5 on my TiBook and on my Cube. It's just that this is for a different project. :) Eagle -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
