Hi Tom;
        have you pulled the pram battery and reset the mobo?
        if not pull the battery and locate the reset switch on the mobo and
hold it
        down for 60 seconds. put the battery back and reboot (some settings will
        have gone back to default - adjust as required)
        i would also use DiskWarrior to make    sure the directory structure is aok.
        a bus error may also indicate a video problem but i don't know much
        about video on beige g3's so i can't help you there
