Got a new drive the other night for my G4 800. Swapped out my 20GB audio file drive with a new Maxtor 40GB. Previously I had only the system drive on the system ATA bus, and my audio drive and extra 20GB storage drive on my Sonnet ATA66 card.. Well I moved the storage drive onto the system bus with the 40GB Seagate drive. Left the new 40GB audio drive on the Sonnet.
Under OS X everything shows up just fine. Booted into OS 9 last night to run some tracks for someone and my storage drive wouldnt mount. Drive Setup and Norton could both see it but couldnt make it mount. Drive Setups info said no Mac Partitions on it, Norton Disk Doctor did see the Mac OS Extended file system. After trying to update the disk driver, run disk doctor, norton volume recover, etc, it still wouldnt mount. What I ended up doing was copying the 4GB of info on it to my system drive then just reinitialized the drive. Now it works in both OS's.. For future reference (as Ive seen it before) does anyone know what might have caused this and how it can be resolved without copying data and reformatting?? -- Chris http://www.towelhead.net http://www.mp3.com/stemcellvirus http://www.mp3.com/towelhead -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
