it is terrible that the online estimate and even one phone call provided
a wrong ship date.  ps, unless the educational discount has cheap ram,
you can save about half the money by adding it yourself, that's what i
did, got the mac with i simm and ordered 2 more from crucial.com
(micron), which is one of apples ram suppliers.  re: ram shortage, it
could be they only contracted with one company and that company has a
shortage, meanwhile apple may be trying to beat a good price out of
another supplier and holding things up until they can make their usually
huge markup on ram.  it stinks you have to wait, hopefully you'll get it
soon.  i ordered mine not realizing at first that it wasn't even in
production yet, had to wait 2 months but boy was i thrilled when it
came.  apple does have serious problems with their online ordering
though, they really, really need to fix that.  the way it works now they
are liable to get a class action suit filled against them soon, and they
really don't need that bad press.
