Ive just purchased a Toshiba R1102 < 8x8x8x24 > and am wondering if anyone
else has ditched their rage dvd decoder for the patched DVD 2.7 player
<apple> and an ATI card <not counting the 7000>.?
here's what I have going
G3/450<xcl8 zif> -(about to be pushed to 500)
512mb ram <about to be 768>
8gb IDE HD <guess Ill be needing something bigger>
9gb SCSI HD <have to open case and plug it in if needed/else just runs and
runs and gets very hot>
Mac Radeon PCI
Ati Rage 16mb w/dvd decoder daughter PCI
SoundBlaster Live PCI
SCSI PCI
CDRW/DVD-rom <ditching my old scetchy scsi 2x cdrw and stock 5x DVD-rom>
(which turned out to be cheaper than buying a used Firewire CDRW)
GeeThree Stealth Serial port
OS 9.2.1
rev.2 MB
Ive run out of room in my PCI slots and never had any room in the drive
bays.
Id like to ditch the Rage/DVD decoder and just keep my Mac Radeon but only
under the condition that it will play dvd's without any problems. Ive read
G4 owners not happy with their software decoder/players and look for a
hardware decoder. Has anyone replaced their dvd decoders and using the
patched 2.7 player? Ive been to the xcl8 compatibility and the toshiba
seems the best choice, especially being bootable and under $75. < just not
itunes friendly >
also does anyone have a Stealth GeePort and have added a switcher to it? <
that works =) >
while Im at it Im having trouble getting OpenGl as an option while
choising 3d renderers in 3d games. Im running opengl 1.2.2 <extentions>
but cant understand why Im not getting opengl as an option. Anyone playing
UT or DeusEx on a MAC RADEON?
Any advice is appreciated =)
