sorry i already lost the first part of this thread, but if there is only
2m of ram showing up, it's unlikely the machine will boot properly.  i
don't know if it happens on g3 machines, but on many macs a dead pram
battery will keep the video from working.  sorry if i'm being thick or
missed something.  i assume you've already checked that the cable is
properly connected (it's happened before, to me at least, always check
the painfully obvious first).
