Back in '95, I bought a Woods Industries _switched_ outlet strip at
Staples. 3 outlets "switched on", when the main device powered up (which
was connected to my PowerMac 8500). So, I connected my monitor to one of
these switched outlets (power switch set to on). I hit the Power key on
the ADB keyboard, & the PowerMac & monitor power on simultaneously. A real
easy way to get the system up.

I can't find this Woods Industries "smart" outlet strip, or any other
brand. It seems as if every retailer has gone *cheap*, & has these "dumb"
outlet strips. No *switched* outlet strips.

Believe it or not, my G4/667 sits most of the time because I CAN'T power up
the system like my 8500 (G4/400 accelerated) with one flick of a switch.
I'll be getting a 3rd party keyboard which HAS a power button. So, all I
need is a switched outlet strip, & I can power up my G4/667 with one flick
of a switch.

Does anyone know of a *switched* outlet strip, & where I can get one?

PS

I noticed the MacAlly USB keyboards (ikeys & the other one) HAVE a power
button. Why Apple didn't put one on the keyboard is beyond me. Someone
was saying something about a Mac monitor. (you mean you hit the monitor's
power switch, & it turns on the PowerMac? If so, this is forcing the user
to buy a Mac monitor. I use a Mitsubishi 19" Diamond Pro). That Mac
keyboard ($69) has a plasticky feel, & the Microsoft Natural (ergo)
keyboards ($40 & up) have far better feel. I even tried a lowly Compaq
keyboard at the local Radio Shack, & it had a better feel than the Mac
keyboard. The Mac mouse (clear thing) is no good. The Logitech optical
wheel mouse makes interactivity so much better. Why does Apple charge so
much, for inferior products? I thought Mac puts out superior products at a
higher price.
