I haven't been following this tread at all but whatever the problem is,
could the fact that this post from  Santa has the following header:

Is it safe to assume that your battery is bad since the computer is putting
out the date of "1 Jan 1970".  Either that or the ISP server is "screwed
up".  I don't know whether this is pertinent to the problem. Just my
observation.  :-)
