I use a D-Link DI-704, a hub or two, and an old GV 56k modem. Works fine and does NOT require me paying 1.) the energy bill for a dedicated system to be the soft router and 2.) attention to who's running what OS (or hardware). Completely user transparent. A good $40 solution.
