Hi
I have been playing around trying to install OS X on a slave
hard drive on my mac (Beige G3/233>G4/450, revC)
I left my original OS 9.2.2 untouched but since yesterday my OS
9.2.2 doesn't find the internal CD_ROM anymore. Nothing to be
seen on the System Profiler. No ATAPI drive. If I insert a CD
ROM, nothing happens.
If I restart from the OS Install CD(OS9) there is no problem and
the CD ROM is in the System Profiler list.
Now I have installed a clean OS9 on a different partition and
still no internal CD ROM !!!!
What I also have done is install a 2nd hard drive and I defined
master/slave of the 2 drives as "CAble decides" with the jumpers.
DO I have to make one drive the Master and the other the slave -
is cable decides not enough?
Why is it possible to have the CD ROM if I start from the CD Rom
and not if I start from a system on one of the hard drive
partitons????

Is there something I have forgotten to look at?

cheers
