You don't need a Mac monitor if you've got a
multisync monitor (i.e. any PC monitor made in
the last 10 years, essentially...)

Go to CompUSA or someplace like it and you
can buy a VGA/Mac plug adapter for a few
dollars. Some of them have switches on them
so that you can simulate the monitor configuration
information that Macs pick up from the cable
connector. No big deal. I use a Sony Trinitron
17" PC monitor as my spare monitor when setting
up Macs of all varieties and it works fine.

Best wishes,

-greg

P.S. While I'm here, would someone who has managed to connect
a 17" Apple LCD display to a B&W using the various adapters
available like to comment on how well it works and if it's worth
the money?
