Woke up my B&W G3 (OS 9.2.2) this morning, browsed the web for a while,
noticed there was no sound coming out of the external speakers. I pulled the
external speaker jack so I could use the built-in speaker, heard a light crackle,
thought maybe they will be OK now, plugged them back in. The computer froze. I
restarted. The boot appeared to stall after the first extension icon came up -
the left-right arrow one. Then a bomb appeared on the screen. I restarted --
same thing. I inserted the Norton OS 9.2 CD. Restarted with C-down. Norton
screen background came up, the arrow icon came up, boot stalled, and the bomb
appeared again. This doesn't sound good. Any ideas? Also, it does get as far as
putting up my screen background in place of the gray starting one. It doesn't
get to the point of putting up my wallpaper/jpeg background. It isn't completely
dead, but ...

By the way, how do you shut down (other than pulling the plug) -- the on-off
button on the front of the CPU doesn't do anything. / Dave

PS: Hope this gets to you this time. Maclaunch does not like AOL-8
formatting. AOL says html is the only way I can send email. They suggested going to
aol.com and sending from there -- unformatted.
