I�ve already started a maelstrom over this issue on other lists but I thought I may try you all out as you seem to be the most well adjusted group ;) I have a beige G3 300mhz with 384MB of RAM and a brand new 12� PB 867 G4 with 640MB of RAM. I swear on my families good name that the G3 is faster in many tasks, not the least of which is rendering video in iMovie.
There is *no way* a Beige G3/300 with half the ram will be faster than the powerbook, if the PB were healthy.
Render the same iMovie project on each and time them.
If the G3 is faster than the powerbook, something is flat wrong with the powerbook.
Take it back to an Apple store or your dealer and demand a fixed one. Bolster yuour case with facts.
It has twice the ram, and nearly three times the processor speed, not to mention the fact that it has a vastly faster bus.
