This is my first message to the list, as I just subscribed.

The floppy drive in my beige G3 is being temperamental -
not working more often than it is working. When I put a
floppy in the drive, I get a window that tells me the disk
is unreadable by this computer, and asks if I want to
initialize it. It's happened enough that I'm sure it's not
the disks.

Could it be the reader, and if so how would I check and fix
that?

I think it's the floppy drive and/or its cable, so the next
question is, can I replace it with the drive and cable that
are in my defunct PowerMac 7500?

Thanks,

Janice
