Bad onboard ethernet port? I've lost two ethernet ports to lightning in the past few years.

This machine is the first one I have purchased with a card installed. My other 15 or so G3's are all networked thru the Ethernet port on the rear of the machine...
It could have been used as a router.
The G3's on board Ethernet is 10BaseT. Is the card a 10/100 card, someone might have wanted more speed. I have 10/100 PCI cards in several machines with on board Ethernet for just this reason.
