The Rage 128 pci card was very responsive to the Millions/Thousands color settings. My old NUBUS 7100 with a 233 G3 with a Nubus Radius card and Mac OS 9.1 was also very responsive to the Millions/Thousands color settings. Try opening 3 or 4 Web Browser windows and drag/drop them and watch rendering on busy pages. Not very scientific but a "real world test".

Ram is Cheap, I purchase PC-100 128 Meg sticks for $50 CND ($30 USD) from a local computer store. Make sure they are "double sided" and a "brand name". I have had very good luck.

I've usually found it hard to really tell the difference, but wouldn't it depend somewhat if there's a new video card? In what way do you test; maybe I'll play with that again.

3) Increase your ram...

Well, now see, that's no fair --- you're spending money now.
