I'd go with the USB drive. Format it FAT 32 and *could* use it on PC or Mac. Zips are ok, but you have to have a copy of DiskWarrior on hand for when the Zips start the dreaded "clacking"... USB mini drives have no moving parts. They are easy to transport and a breeze to use. A 256 MB mini drive would probably cost about the same as a Zip 250 external drive.
