Hello all,

I'm not all that tech savvy, so I need a bit of guidance here.

Do I need a special controller card if I want to use a 160 gig hard drive in my G4 tower? I bought the drive, but the system profiler says it's only 137 gigs.

IIRC, your G4 has ata33 drive controllers on board. ATA33 is limited to 137G that it can see, so no matter what drive you have, 137G is the max you can use. To use all 160G (or any drive over 137G) you will need a controller card. Just be forewarned, many controller cards require you to either update the drivers (usually no risk to the data) or to fully reformat the drive, which will lose all data on the drive.
