As it is, I could d/l everything, from all the zip disks we have, to the
20GB "slave" drive, and not make too big a dent, in the available storage of
that drive.



Remember that the hard drive is volatile as a final storage device. If you want to save something so that it keeps it's data permanent, use CD-R. A crash on the hard drive and everything is gone.
