I think mine is not one of these thankfully.  I was able to successfully burn 
a couple of CD  in OS X and the problem does not happen at all when launching 
OSX.  Also the CDRW doesn't have any problem reading regular CDs.  I gave a 
look at the drive and to my surprise it was not in "slave" position, but 
"master", don't know what it means but gave it a try and switched it to "slave" the 
startup slowdown improved considerably from about 20 seconds (right when the 
Toast extension would show up) to about 2 seconds now (that's about 80% 
improvement!).  So I fixed the problem, but if I had not fixed the problem I was 
going to contact the seller I got it from.
