Can it be True, My favorite Mac App has a serious down side...

Today I performed my first CD-ROM burn and the results were disasterous (to a couple of $0.50 cd-r's).

I have a G3-400 with OS/X 10.2.6 and a 42x burner
iTunes only allows me to burn at a max of 24x? This is odd but not a problem. I burn all my music CD's at 4x. A female rep. at Radio Shack told me to do that to pervent skips and clicks on my home-brew music CD's. It Works, I don't fight it. (This was with a PeeCee 16x).

Problem 1)
- CD-ROM Door does not lock, I have an eject button on my G-3 Case and I pressed it accently while reaching across my desk. My Linux Box locks the CD-Door and so does the Windows Box lock the CD-Door while burning... The Intuitive iTunes leaves it open? Oh Well, Coaster #1

Problem 2)
- All my music - MP-3's are on a Linux Samba Shared Drive. That drive is on a RAID controller and it is backed up regulerly. I do this to share my music across my Home Networks. To save 50 Gig of music from being downloaded to my 8 Gig G3 drive I set iTunes up to NOT copy the music to the local Mac Drive.
- When burning a Music CD iTunes does not give an option to locally buffer all CD-Data before burning. My PeeCee Nero does. I do not know if this is automatically done or if it copies from the LAN while it burns. When burning MP-3's with a G3, that processor has its hands full. MP-3 to audio conversion, Burning the CD and running the Mac Desktop. I don't believe it can handle network traffic at the same time. My 1 Gig Atholon can't.

Does iTunes make such assumptions, 1) you cdrom eject button is covered by the fancy G4-Case door without an eject button. And 2) All of your music is on a local share...
