I too have had a very negative experience with OWC, am not impressed with them at all. I let my wallet speak for me. I bought my Zif from Daystar. I cannot be happier with the way they conduct business.
Gary sent me a thank you note for my patronage. When I could no longer see the extension on my desk top, I contacted them and they have sent me several e-mails with helpful suggestions.
I now try to remember to publicly comment on the great service I receive. I still have RAM I purchased online that was DOA, and the dealer wanted to charge me a restocking fee!!!
What is being said about Credit Card companies is very valid. I purchased 3X256 Ram from Best Buy, they verified it was compatible with my specific system. It was a couple of weeks until I was able to get them installed. The gent had to take my system home with him as there was a problem. He called to tell me the ram was only reading at 50% of each 256K chip. I quickly ordered three new ones again on line, he installed them and returned my system. I took the original ram chips in the original packages back to Best Buy and they refused to accept them as it was 32 days from purchase. Nothing helped. I contacted American Express, they told me about a "buy back" program and sent me the necessary paperwork. When completed, the money was credited back to my card.
The only strength we as customers have is to speak out and buy from a competitor. I don't care if I mean nothing to OWC, I vote for Gary and Daystar.
