I found this photo of a "Plain Talk" mic on eBay and it does look longer but I can't tell by how much. The end of the plastic plug must fit "into" the personality card along with the 3/4 inch metal tip.

I notice the plastic plug has a stepped portion on it too which would make the combined length a bit longer to seat into the personality card. Give this a look if you can Bob.
