I've got a Beige G3 running 10.2.6 (9.1 and 9.2.2 on other partitions), and I want to upgrade the OWC G3/333. Radeon 7000 32MB, maxed 6 MB onboard VRAM driving a second monitor for extra palettes.
Right now I've got 256 MB (and will boost up to 768). Sonnet has a G4/700 ZIF for $349.97, and OWC sells the PowerLogix G3/900 ZIF for $249.97...which is the better processor? Which is the better value? Will Quartz Extreme (even under the PCI bus) benefit more with a G4? I would like to occasionally use Photoshop, PageMaker and GoLive, but much of the use is internet browsing and Microsoft Office use. Will the 700 be faster than the 900 for most of my needs, or should I go for the fastest clock speed, period? I would very much like your input. Thanks, Michael R.
