Thanks, Glen, for reminding me to run Disk Utility to
repair/verify the permissions, as well as giving all drives
a fresh directory build with DW.  And big thanks to Tony,
who hit the nail on the head immediately.  I did, in fact,
re-initialize the drive when I installed Panther (although
I don't know how I managed to remove the default OS9 driver
installation---you have to INTENTIONALLY switch off that
particular option).  Anyway, using Carbon Copy Clone, I
just moved the entire contents of the questionable drive
onto another drive, then re-initialized the first one WITH
OS9 driver install switched ON.  Used CCC again to return
the original contents to the empty drive, and VOILA!  She
boots up in 9.2.2 like there was never a problem.  Thanks
very much, guys!
