Basically you have to make sure you get a card that's OHCI compliant (open
host compliant). The other type of USB card is EHCI, these tend to NOT work
in a Mac. Also make sure it's USB v.1.1. I accidentally bought a USB 2.0
card and it wouldn't work in my 7300 even though I was using Jaguar. OS 9
won't even try to recognize USB 2.0. My B&W is able to use it. Also in
order to get a USB card working in non-USB native Macs (anything below a B&W
or iMac), you'll need to install a fix from Apple that will allow your
machine to utilize USB cards. Install this software BEFORE you install the
card. No other software or drivers are needed.

I've had problems going from 10.2.6 to 10.2.8 with XPostFacto on my
9500/G3/300 (oc'ed to 400). I was happily running 10.2.6, did the software
update and my machine kept freezing on each boot at the spinning radial. No
matter what I tried it just wouldn't go past the spinning radial. I
eventually had to re-install 10.2 and update it to 10.2.6. It is happily
running with this version.
