Re: Panther: printing problems? Now the modem!

Many thanks to all of you who let me know my printer is indeed 
supported under Panther. I was so reassured, I went ahead and installed 
the new OS and now am having problems with  my external modem (USB Zoom 
Faxmodem) - now when I try to connect to the internet all I get are 
error messages saying there's a problem with the modem, and I can't get 
connected. I'm using my husband's iBook (10.2.5) to try to find 
answers. Zoom's website only has the CCL's for OS9, which are 
supposedly unnecessary in OSX - again, no mention specifically of 
Panther. Even weirder, I get not one error box from Internet Connect, 
but two of them, one on top of the other, when I try to connect! I've 
been over the Network settings (PPP and Modem) many, many times and 
can't find where the configuration is wrong. And even tho I've checked 
the box to have modem sounds on, when I click "connect" there's no 
sound; and the menu bar status skips over "Dialing" and immediately 
shows "Connecting" for a while, then goes to "Disconnecting"; when it 
finishes disconnecting is when I get the two dialog boxes. I'm stumped, 
and since I just bought the OS I'll try calling Apple. But if anyone 
has suggestions, just let me know! Thanks.
