I've got a semi maxed out beige MT and here are my recomendations:

1) Ram, a new processor may have problems with older ram like your 32 meg
stick. If you get 1 256 meg to take you up to 448 (replace the 32 meg), you
should be fine.

2) Video card: If you are going to stick with OS 9, a Voodoo 2 or three
card will be faster than a Radeon 7000 for day to day things. I had a
voodoo 3 3000 in my beige that I replaced with a Radeon and in 9 the Radeon
was slower than the voodoo. If you are going with OSX, the Radeon is the
only choice. Panther does not support the built in video on beiges.

3) Processor: While a 1Ghz beige sounds nice, a lot of that is wasted on a
slow bus. OWC has a G4 processor that is rated for 450mhz that they
guarantee will run at 533 for $149 compared to $499 for 1GHZ.

4) a new hard disk on a controller card would be nice and will speed up a
lot of the day to day things.

I have a beige MT that is configured as follows:
G4 533, 768meg ram, Flashed Radeon 7000 64 meg running a 21"CRT, Ahard 133
ATA controller with a 160G hd, LG 40x16x48CDRW/16xDVD combo drive, Pioneer
104 Superdrive, a generic USB 2 card.

Yes, that is a lot to throw at a beige, but the Husband points it would
cost me to bring in a new computer are too many at this time.

HTH,
Len
