>(4) Upgrade the Hard disk. At the same time you do this, upgrade the hard
>disk controller to a an ATA/133 controller that fits in a PCI slot. I have
>an SIIG controller ...

I did this years ago on my Beige by converting it to UW-SCSI, with LVD/SE
Drives.

The card is a two-channel ATTO, with two internal 68-pin connections and
two 68-pin VHDCI external connections.

The drives are small as UATA drives go ... 18.3 GB each ... but I also
have an ACARD "SCSI Bridge" on a 120 GB 7200 rpm Maxtor, also UW-SCSI.

The 18.3 GB drives for frequently accessed files and the "SCSI Bridge"
solution for CD and DVD mastering (and other) uses makes the most sense
to me.

My Beige's CPU is a (now discontinued) 533 MHz (0.5 GHz) G3 from OWC.

Both EIDE channels are assigned to CD-ROM-R-R/W and DVD-ROM-R-R/W uses,
and are Master only.

Works fine ... last a long time.

If I could get a real deal on a late B&W I *might* be tempted to upgrade.

It would have to be a bare-bones B&W which was the latest revision mobo,
and could support Master and Slaves.
