I just bought one of these "For BEST Ports Connection" Firewire/USB PCI
cards also. In my case, the computer (Beige G3 with NewerTech ZIF upgrade
running OS 9.2) would not even boot with the card installed. I kept getting
Type 11 errors along with instructions to restart with extensions off (even
when I was starting with extensions off). I contacted the vendor, and they
told me the card is not Mac-compatible--even though both their website and
the card package say it is. I am returning the card to them for a full
refund. You should do the same.
