 Good advice.  IMO, Tech Tool is good if you want to show gee-whiz benchmarks, or as a 
coaster, but nothing much more technical than that.

 Disk Warrior worked great the last version I bought, which was a couple years ago for 
a 9.2 volume on a B/W that Eudora 5 mangled, but at that time they still could not 
work with non-mounted partitions or volumes, so workflow was to use Norton to get 
something mounted, then use DiskWarrior.

 Now I believe they can even work with unmounted partitions and drives (someone 
confirm deny?) and it is at this time one of the best utils.
