I don't really belong here yet, but I am considering getting my first G4 machine, and am considering
--QuickSilver 1GHz DP
--Mirrored Drive Door (August 2002)
Either machine would be more than enough for my needs.
My only question is whether there were any particular PROBLEMS with either of these machines? I have heard that the Mirrored Drive Door models had very noisy cooling fans.

You can't learn to swim if you don't get wet....
I have a Quicksilver 1Ghz DP and bought it new from Apple back in June of 2002.
Been a great computer so far, no issues to report. I don't know about the mirrored doors model, but one of the 1st things I did was buy an ATA 133 card and 2 x 80 Gb ATA 100 hard drives. The ATA bus on the motherboard is a pathetic 66mhz. I also ordered the computer with the optional SCSI card and Ultra 160 36Gb SCSI drive. Am pleased with the flat panel display, but have seen it compared to the CRT studio display and I prefer the quality of the CRT over the flat panel.
Just my 2 worth.
Let me know what you get and what you pay. I'd like to know how much my computer has depreciated in 2 years.
