You should try looking at the message boards on PHPmac.com. They have a LOT of information (as does php.com). People are usually very helpful with queries, have a lot of arcane knowledge and don't laugh at you if you don't know something (at least I don't think they're laughing).

They have step-by-steps. OSX comes with PHP but not the most recent version. Anymore you can get nice installers so you don't even have to go into the Terminal. But knowing how to compile it in the terminal is good practice because you can custom set stuff.

I'm an absolute idiot, and I got it going on my beige G3 with Jaguar with the help of many kind folks out there in open source land.

I downloaded PHP-4.3.6 from the web.

I have it unshrunk on my desktop.

How do I install it into Apache?

If anyone can help me could you be really specific. I am not afraid of the
terminal but I am not init everyday.

The reason I am doing this is here.

I am attempting to install OS Commerce in my Apache documents folder. It
required two folders, Catalog and admin in the Apache documents folder.

Then the instructions tell me to open my browser and type in this

http://yourcomputername/catalog/install/

In the install folder there is an Install.php files along with many other
files and so I am gathering that to use that URL I must have PHP and MYSQL
installed.

Anyone that could help to lead me through this I would so much appreciate. I
am really ready to move my website over to my own apache server.

Thank you.
