I have a Beige MT with an OWC 466 mhz G4 zif. It seems to be running a bit hot
lately, probably since it is a bit crowded by the drive hanging next to it.

It shows temps as high as 155degrees F, while I'd always seen it more around
115. I understand the G4 reporting is not that accurate, but it is hotter than
it used to be.

My case already has two extra fans in the internal handle where Apple designed
them to go. These seem to do a good job cooling the crowded pci boards. I had
suspected some firewire problems were due to heat, and they are gone, so I may
have been right.

So:

1. The processor has a heat sink, I think the one that came with the stock zif.
The upgrade did not specify using heat goop, jsut the stock sink. Should I be
using some?

2. If I wanted to add a fan, would it go on the current heat sink, or should I
look for something with its own sink? There isn't a lot of space above the heat
sink when the case is closed.

I'd appreciate any suggestions.

Rich
