Version 3.75 of ACARD's firmware for it's "SCSI-EIDE Bridge" products support EIDE DVRs as SCSI drives.
ACARD also put in a patch to support 160 GB drives as SCSI drives as well, so this may be a partial solution, and not full 48-bit LBA support. With the earlier firmware, some CD-ROM-R-R/Ws would work as CD-ROMs and CD-Rs and some DVD-ROM-R-R/Ws would work as DVD-ROMs but not as CD-Rs, etcetera. YES! EIDE CD-ROM-R-R/Ws and DVD-ROM-R-R/Ws are bootable, as SCSI drives, with this firmware! This is a great improvement. The firmware also applies to ACARD's UW-SCSI converters for 3.5" UATA hard drives. (ACARD's LVD converters are a completely different product, which may or may not be addressed by other firmware. The LVD converters have full 48-bit LBA support, so the limit is much more than 160 GB). -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
