Just got a G4 tower (the latest MDD model with single processor, refurb from Apple) and am looking for a monitor. Have never purchased one as previous computers were G3 iMacs.
Congratulations. A good, solid, dependable and fast computer. It may not be the newest G5, but you'll find it a speed demon compared to the previous G3's.

Will probably buy a 15" LCD or a 17" CRT. I am not under pressure to buy right away and can wait awhile for a deal (though I do want to start enjoying the new machine).

Any recommendations? Thanks in advance.
At least 17" whichever you chose. A lot of software is now looking for 1024 x 768 as a minimum and that's a lot friendlier resolution on a 17" monitor. As was already mentioned it's hard to beat a CRT for value. LCD's are great if space is a consideration. If the rumors about new Apple displays at WWDC are correct including the discontinuance of the 17"? There should be some great prices on the older models shortly.

Samsung has a new monitor model range coming and I have seen their Syncmaster 173P 17" LCD's advertised at great prices. It's an excellent LCD monitor.
