I have to disagree that calibration is time consuming or just for
crt's - it generally takes about ten minutes with a spectro and the
software to profile a crt or flat panel and for high quality colour
matching it's essential for either. Once every six months or yearly is
all the calibration you need.
The highest quality displays are mostly crt at the moment - flat
panels have suffered from poor dot pitch, restricted viewing angle and
non realistic colour but for general home use these factors are
unimportant and anyway they are much improved now.
Wouldn't mind a Barco Coloris Calibrator for a free home trial - a
year or so....
