I've had a irritating little problem for some time now that I'd like
some list input on. I'd like to share an Apple 21" Studio Display between a
B&W G3/900 and a 9600 G4/700. Both machines have Radeon Mac Editions, one of
them is a 7000; both are running OS 9.2.2. The KVM box I'm using is
Mac-specific and the K and M share very well with it but not the video. I
cannot get video through the box from either machine. Because the video
cards have VGA connectors and my cables are Mac, I have to use ATI's
adapters between the cards and the cables. At the box the video connectors
are Mac and then at the box output I have both video connector choices
available. The Studio Display is a VGA connector.
I have never had a great deal of satisfaction when working with video
adapters, so naturally I suspect they are the source of the problem. Touble
is I don't know what to do about them. Anybody have any insights on this? If
anyone has been successful sharing a monitor by some other means, I'm all
ears as I'm really tired of swapping the monitor cable several times a week!
Thanks a ton.
