I am going to be adding an internal modem to a G3AIO. I will also be removing the original 4GB hard drive, which currently contains OS 9.2.2, and replacing it with a 13GB drive (partitioned) containing only OS 10.2.8

Is it better to do the CD-ROM and modem firmware updates in OS 9 or OSX.

Would the same apply to OSX?

Appletalk must be fully functional.
Any problems with Appletalk, and the firmware won't load.

I have recently acquired a beige G3 mini-tower with an internal Apple/GV 56K modem. I downloaded the flasher software from Apple, but every time I run it the progress bar reaches about 10% and it fails.
