The first hard drive was left set to master and the hard drive was set to slave.
The chime sounded and the gray screen appeared for a second or so then went blank.
The drives get power and initilise, but there is no video and no chime when the G3 is turned on.
The G3 has a 12GB hard drive, 24x CD-ROM, a ZIP 100 drive,256MB RAM and an ATI Rage 128 video card. (16MB VRAM)
The video card is fine, it is now in my Power Mac 8500 for the time being.
I suspect that the motherboard is the Revision 1 board, hence the problem. I would invest in a PCI IDE controller card,but I think that might not help since there is no chime.
I tried everything I could think of. Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks.
