it was probably sluggish because your' drive is highly fragmented. even on a 9500 it doesn't cause a speed problem. i'd suggest getting another small drive or picking a nearly empty partition to defrag and use for virtual memory. having vm on will greatly reduce crashes as well. netscape is memory hungry, particularly with a lot of bookmarks, windows open at the same time, or "large" pages being viewed. seriously though, vm is a vary good thing, and you can then also use a ram disk for your netscape cache which speeds things up a lot (it actually does make sense to use vm and a ram disk even though it seems odd, it's a management thing).
