Hello G3 listers,

This is my first post on the list. I recognize many names on this list from
other lists LEM lists I subscribe to. Perhaps someone can give me advice on my
latest dilemma.

I just won (?) a G3 B&W from Epay that was advertised as a Rev 2. It was
received yesterday but unfortunately it is a Rev 1.

My plan is to transplant my 7500's SCSI LVD/SE HD's to the B&W, upgrade the
processor to a G4 and run OS X. I have no current plans for adding a second
IDE drive.

The question is should I keep it? I got it for a good price and could recoup
most it not all my $$ reselling it for a Rev1. I have politely E-mailed the
seller about his fraud but do not expect any easy resolution.

Are there any other issues aside from data corruption with a second IDE drive
installed on the native bus, the slower ATI Rage card that shipped with the
Rev 1 and the lack of the dual HD mounting bracket that is found in the Rev 2
that I should know about?

This B&W is fine machine I like it a lot but without more upgrades like more
RAM, a G4 Processor, and a decent SCSI card it still can't match the "hot
rodded" 7500 I am presently using. I don't want to spend any more on upgrades if
the Rev 1 board going to bite me down the road.

Your input is greatly appreciated. Thanks --glen (digest mode)
