Thank you, Kyle. I have searched various combinations of "Norton Shell
Removal" and "Norton Virus" on the apple download website, and found
nothing. Assistance would be helpful in finding this for OS9.1.

Problems are something I don't have much of. Can you describe what the
Norton Anti-Virus could be doing?

I also have installed Norton Systemworks, which I bought as a special for
$10 after a recommendation from persons on another listserv. I use Disc
Doctor from time to time, and it finds minor problems sometimes, always the
same ones. Will the Shell Removal software also remove, or affect, the
other parts of the Systemworks suite? Should I find out how to uninstall
this, too, in favor of another maintenance utility?

Another option that might work for me is to use the program Yank 3.0.2 to
remove the Anti-Virus or the Systemworks including the Anti-Virus. The
vendor no longer has this on its site, but I found it here
http://www.mac.org/utilities/yank/.

I also found a description of Yank by the author here

Any help from those on the list who are still OS9.x friendly would be
appreciated.
